SGUMC
to hold Children’s
Sabbath service

SUGAR GROVE—Sugar Grove United Methodist Church (UMC) on Sunday, Oct. 14, will celebrate Children’s Sabbath as part of the Children’s Defense Fund’s annual observance. The multi-faith weekend seeks to inspire congregations and religious organizations to work on behalf of children through prayer, service, and advocacy throughout the year.
The Children’s Sabbath theme this year, “Pursuing Justice for Children and the Poor with Urgency and Persistence,” urges everyone—young and old—to reach out and speak out to help protect children from budget cuts. When 16.4 million children in America are poor, and children under age 5 are the poorest age group in the country, this country has a crisis.
Both the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services will celebrate children and also focus on one urgent problem for the children in the area. For more information about Sugar Grove UMC’s celebration of the Children’s Sabbath, contact Rev. Vickie Hadaway at (630) 466-4501 or sugargroveumc@sbcglobal.net.
UMC is located at 176 Main St. in Sugar Grove.
