Marion, Ind.—Alexandria Dungey of Elburn graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a bachelor of arts degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
Holland, Mich—Seniors Jenna Buck and Marcy Blowers, both of Elburn, were named to the dean’s list for the second semester of the 2010-11 school year at Hope College. Students must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale to make the list.
BETHESDA, Md.—Sam Swithers of Maple Park was the recipient of a 2011 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) scholarship funded by the University of the Aftermarket Foundation.
Swithers will attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill.
GAAS scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000, were awarded to 107 students in 2011. To be eligible for a GAAS scholarship, applicnts must be enrolled full time in a college-level program or an ASE/NATEF (National Automotive Technician Education Foundation) certified automotive technical program.
ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Gregory Sutherland of Sugar Grove was named to the University of Rochester’s dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester.
Sutherland, a junior majoring in Russian studies, is the son of Mark and Laurie Sutherland and a graduate of Kaneland High School.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average in the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture and in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science. Students in Liberal Arts ad Education must reach at least a 3.75.

Army Pvt. Mathew Hatchett graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
He is the son of Ava Kakoczki of Maple Park.
Hatchett graduated in 2010 from Kaneland High School.
