Cline named to Elmhurst dean’s list

Swithers receives 2011 GAA scholarship

BETHESDA, Md.—Sam Swithers of Maple Park was the recipient of a 2011 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) scholarship funded by the University of the Aftermarket Foundation.

Swithers will attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill.

GAAS scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000, were awarded to 107 students in 2011. To be eligible for a GAAS scholarship, applicnts must be enrolled full time in a college-level program or an ASE/NATEF (National Automotive Technician Education Foundation) certified automotive technical program.

Dienst named to NIU dean’s list

The dean’s list in the College of Education includes students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.75 or higher while completing a minimum of 12 graded semester hours.

Wentzel, Sikic named to University of Wisconsin Platteville dean’s list

Platteville, Wis.—Andrea Wentzel of Elburn and Alexandra Sikic of Sugar Grove were named to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average in the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture and in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science. Students in Liberal Arts ad Education must reach at least a 3.75.

Galles, Oakes earn degree, academic honors from Purdue University

West Lafayette, Ind.—Jacob Galles of Sugar Grove was one of 7,000 students to receive a degree from Purdue University following the spring semester.

Tricia Oakes of Elburn was among the 13,000 Purdue University students who earned academic honors for the spring 2011 semester.

To earn honors, students must have had at least a 3.5 semester or cumulative grade point average on a four-point scale.

Eastern Illinois University announces graduates, dean’s list

Hatchett graduates basic training

in Hometown by

Army Pvt. Mathew Hatchett graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

He is the son of Ava Kakoczki of Maple Park.

Hatchett graduated in 2010 from Kaneland High School.
