OXFORD, OHIO—Alexandra Hamas of Sugar Grove was recently named to the Miami of Ohio University dean’s list for the 2012-13 spring semester.
Miami University students who ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2012-13 were named to the dean’s list recognizing academic performance.

KANSAS CITY, MO.—Fox Valley Career Center student Josh Worley of Elburn and Waubonsee Community College student Dustin VonEyser of Sugar Grove were recently awarded a Skill Point Certificate in electrical construction wiring and automotive refinishing technology, respectively, at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo.
RICHMOND, KEN.—Kaneland High School graduate and Sugar Grove resident Veronica Rochelle Seawall was recently named to Eastern Kentucky University’s dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester.
Seawall is an animal studies major at the university.
To achieve dean’s list honors at EKU, students attempting 14 or more credit hours must earn a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 GPA, and students attempting 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 GPA.
ROLLA, MO.—Daniel Broecker of Elburn and Brian Bakala of Sugar Grove recently received Bachelor of Science degrees in metallurgical engineering and mechanical engineering, respectively, from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Both students graduated cum laude.
PLATTEVILLE, WIS.—Alyssa Galvan, an elementary education major from Maple Park, recently earned academic honors from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for the spring 2013 semester. Galvan was named to the Chancellor’s List after earning a 4.0 grade point average during the semester.

AURORA—John Peters and Jackson Rettig of Sugar Grove, and Nathan Colwell of Montgomery, were among the 2013 Marmion Academy seniors to receive the St. Timothy Youth Award, a national recognition given to youth by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry in collaboration with the Diocese of Rockford Catholic Education Office.
DAVENPORT, IOWA—Kristina Scarpitti of Maple Park was named to the St. Ambrose University dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, students, must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
CARLINVILLE, ILL.—Cynthia Roberg of Maple Park was named to the Blackburn College dean’s list for the Spring 2013 semester.
Students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in all courses to be eligible for the dean’s list.
MILWAUKEE—Theodore Parge of Sugar Grove recently received a Bachelor of Science in business economics from Marquette University in Milwaukee. He was one of nearly 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students who participated in the May 19 graduation ceremony at the Bradley Center, located in Milwaukee.
SUGAR GROVE—John Kintz of Sugar Grove was recently named to the University of Iowa dean’t list for the 2013 spring semester.
The dean’s list at the University of Iowa recognizes a student who earned a term grade-point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
Kintz will spend this summer in Iowa. He was one of two University of Iowa engineering students chosen by the Iowa Department of Transportation for an intern position.
NAPERVILLE, ILL.—Dustin Olson of Elburn recently received a master’s degree from North Central College during the school’s commencement on June 8.
DALLAS—Brandon Lawson of Elburn received a Master of Business Administration in finance, strategy and entrepreneurship during the May 2013 Southern Methodist University (SMU) commencement ceremony. After the university-wide commencement, SMU’s schools and departments held individual receptions throughout the day to honor graduates.
APPLETON, WIS.—Samantha Eichelberger, the daughter of Brent and Cynthia Eichelberger of Elburn, was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in English from Lawrence University during its commencement on June 9.
Eichelberger is a 2009 graduate of Kaneland High School.
